“When my mom asked if I wanted to attend the CBWOQ conference with her last year, I agreed, without really knowing what to expect. At the time, I saw it as a good opportunity to go on an overnight getaway with my mom and spend some time with her and God. But that weekend brought me so much more than I could have anticipated.
First, as mom and I got to the venue early to help with set up, I got to work with the other ladies and discovered how much I enjoyed being involved in the logistics and planning. The opportunity to assist with the set-up, registration and refreshments made me feel like I was part of things and gave me a great sense of belonging. That was my first experience attending a women’s conference and I enjoyed worshipping and connecting with other women.
This little getaway from my usual routine was a wonderful experience to spend some quiet time with God and other like-minded Christians… My only regret was that there were so few women around my age, and I hope that future [gatherings] will see a greater number of younger women in attendance.”
