This year, as we’ve witnessed women across our CBWOQ community serve, give, host, pray, and show up for one another, one theme has woven its way through every story: generosity that reflects the heart of Christ.
It has looked like open hands, open homes, open schedules, and open hearts. It’s been women giving simply because they can—and because they believe in the work God is doing through Baptist women near and far.
One woman, when asked about her substantial donation, answered with quiet simplicity: “Because I have the ability to give.” Her generosity wasn’t complicated. It was worship.
At an association’s event, women gathered, prayed, and gave—and then the offering was matched, doubling the blessing for the refugee sponsorship that they chose to support.
On another day, a woman hosted a Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer gathering in her home. What she offered simply was her available space, others received as a gift of warmth and fellowship. One participant wrote afterward: “It was a very good meeting in your cozy home, and your cookies were delicious! So nice to gather together to share fellowship and pray, as Sisters in Christ.”
Generosity has also looked like women sharing their talents—leading worship with joy, speaking at events, offering testimony with vulnerability, and using their gifts to build up the body of Christ. Again and again, we’ve seen how much strength and beauty God brings from women who simply say yes.
At the Kindred Moms Retreat, where 13 moms of collectively 36 children gathered for rest and renewal, generosity overflowed through a shared feast—everyone bringing something to the table. A Spiritual Director, despite having a full week, freely gave of her time to pour into these mothers raising the next generation. It was a testimony of how God uses our gifts to encourage and uplift one another.
And throughout the year, our Prayer Team has modelled a deep and steadfast generosity—praying regularly for every board and staff member of CBWOQ, covering this ministry in intercession that few ever see but all of us feel.
This tapestry of generosity—financial, practical, relational, spiritual—tells a powerful story.
And it points us toward the greatest gift of all.
At Christmas, we remember that Jesus is the greatest gift and the greatest giver. He came as a baby—small, vulnerable, wrapped in humility—so that we might receive hope, peace, joy and salvation. Every act of generosity we offer flows from the abundance we have already received in Him.
As you celebrate this Christmas season—lighting candles, gathering with loved ones, worshipping our Saviour—we pray your heart is filled with the joy of Christ, the One who gives beyond measure.
And if you feel led, we offer a gentle invitation: Would you consider giving to CBWOQ in gratitude for all God has done this year, and in hope for all He will continue to do?
Your generosity helps women across Ontario and Quebec grow together—in faith, in service, and in love.
May the gift of Jesus fill your home with peace and your heart with wonder.
Merry Christmas.
