Over the last several years, we have been sharing the story of two sisters, Nazia and Robina, young Christian women from Pakistan who have spent more than a decade living as refugees in Thailand. In our last update, we shared their longing for freedom, their hope of coming to Canada, and their remarkable perseverance through years of uncertainty.
The women of CBWOQ have raised nearly $26,000 for their sponsorship. Thank you. Your generosity is helping prepare the way for their new life in Canada, and we gratefully continue to receive your donations for their support.
We hoped for a 2026 arrival, but today, they are still waiting—and the waiting is filled with difficulty.
One of the sisters recently wrote, “We are very worried… there is fear and anxiety … because here we are not living with freedom.” Each time they report to immigration, they are asked when they will leave Thailand. The only answer they are able to give is, “We are waiting.”
Their situation remains uncertain. One sister’s bail documentation will expire next year, and they do not know what will happen after that. They continue to live with restrictions and deep anxiety about their future.
Yet, even in this difficult season, there are glimpses of God’s provision. In Thailand, they have found belonging in a Christian community. One sister is grateful she is able to work, and friends have recently helped provide an air conditioner so they can sleep more comfortably in the intense heat.
And they continue to pray.
“Please keep us in your prayers,” Nazia writes. “Pray that God gives us His strength.”
This fall, would you join us in praying for Nazia and Robina whenever you gather—in person and online? Pray for the immigration officials in Singapore handling their case, that God would soften hearts and open doors, and that their application would receive timely attention. Pray for protection, strength and peace for Nazia and Robina, as well as for family members remaining in Pakistan. And pray that God would make a way for them.
We know that their story is not finished, and neither is God’s work in it.
May we continue to stand with them, trusting the One who holds their future—and ours.
