This past May, at our Growing Together Gathering, women from across our CBWOQ community stepped into a room filled with fabric, thread, bright colours—and something even more beautiful: the desire to serve.
Many of us arrived curious about the Days for Girls workshop. Some came because they loved hands-on learning, others because global women’s issues matter deeply to them. Sarah, one of the youngest women in the room, said she hoped to understand “how I could help people internationally even though I’m not able to travel.” She was drawn to the “behind-the-scenes work” that quietly but powerfully changes lives.
What happened in that room surprised many of us.
It wasn’t just sorting materials or assembling pieces. It was prayer in motion. It was imagining the lives of girls around the world who would receive these kits—girls whose days would look different because of the care woven into every stitch.
And it was watching the women leading the workshop serve with such tenderness that their love “felt as if it were God’s love too,” as Sarah shared.
By the end of the afternoon, 50 kits were packed with dignity and care. Thirty of them were delivered to Oasis Dufferin Community Centre in Toronto—one of CBWOQ’s valued partners, serving newcomer women, single mothers, seniors, women in shelters, and women navigating deep emotional and spiritual needs.
Erika Abele, who helps lead Oasis’ women’s programming, told us how meaningful these kits have already been. Their counselling program—now offered remotely since the pandemic—supports women who otherwise couldn’t access emotional or spiritual care. A faith formation group now meets regularly, welcoming women into Scripture, prayer, and deeper connection with God.
It was in that circle of trust and formation that the Days for Girls kits were given out.
They weren’t just practical items. They were a message.
You are seen.
You are cherished.
You are deeply loved by God.
Sarah felt that same love when she helped her mom load the car with the kits heading to Toronto. “With demands on my time as a university student, it sometimes feels harder to know how to help,” she said. “This felt like one amazing way to help women in our city.”
This is what happens when women gather.
This is what happens when we serve together.
Love multiplies.
As we come to the end of 2025, we’re grateful for every story like Sarah’s—and every woman at Oasis who received a reminder of God’s care through your generosity.
And we want to keep growing this kind of impact.
